RSS for tasks
November 9th, 2005
After spending several million years trying to find a good way to handle my task load, that being work, computer home stuff and general life issues I havent had much luck… or that was until I had a spare 10 minutes and wrote an RSS feed for the job.
Premise is simple - Write a very simple form to enter tasks. Since it’s publically available you can also let others add to your list. Once in the database you can call another simple script to get the RSS feed.. In my case i seperated the feeds for work and home and now I can sit back and get constant scrolling feeds of my tasks.
I’ve currently got it running on my Backstage RSS Ticker (see below) but I will most likely end up using the Backstage RSS Ticker for Windows which I am currently developing.
Speaking of projects, I have quite a lot on at the moment, most of self-inflicted. Apart from work I’m building the RSS Ticker, A TV site ( I wont say much more ) but it involves a web site, MSN, A windows client and a Java (lin/mac) client. Im also working on improving the current ticker with suggestions from various people. Most of my stuff is in prototype and the ones I’ve just highlighted are something i’m actually pursuing with more interest to see them through to a “release” stage. The ticker is almost there and it looks really good.
